By: Lottie Salarda  Baybay City - The kin of Inopacan massacre victims commemorates the 10th year anniversary of Inopacan Mass Grave Discovery and Exhumation with the theme: Usa ka dekada sa padayon nga paghanumdum sa hustisya ug kalinaw" at Hipusngo Cemetery, Baybay City, Leyte on August 28.      In line with the commemoration, the City government of Baybay through Mayor Carmen Cari marked the event with a holy mass at the cemetery where the 67 victims were buried, was officiated by Reverend Fr. PSA encourages the public to get their civil documents online to avoid queue By: Lottie Salarda Tacloban City –The Philippine Statistics Authority is encouraging the public to get their civil documents via online to reduce the long line up in their office in Tacloban City. According to National Statistician and Civil Registrar General of Philippine Statistics Authority Dr. Lisa Grace S. Bersales, some office of the PSA will be open on Saturdays to accommodate the public who are getting their civil documents. But based on their assessment, the office of the PSA here in Tacloban need not be open on Saturdays, yet they open as early as 7:00 o’clock in the morning to accommodate the applicants. A regular applicant has an average of 2-3 hours of waiting in the office of the PSA before he or she gets her civil document. By: Lottie Salarda Tacloban City – The office of the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) in Tacloban City is now requiring the passport applicants to go online to schedule their appointment. This initiative of DFA Manila started last July 1 to lessen the long lines of the waiting applicants outside their office. According to DFA Tacloban Consular Head Karen Terado, the online appointment system aims to have an efficient process of applicant’s passport. They just need to go to online by logging in at https://www.passport.gov.ph and follow the procedures. Terado said that Senior Citizens, infants, persons with disabilities and OFWs do not necessarily need to apply online because they are their priority. Although their office still accepts walk-in applicants because they are still in the transition period, they encouraged the public who are going to apply for a passport to apply online and follow the procedure. Ong was very happy when the Bureau of Internal Revenue have declared their municipality as one of the mythical five (5) that have a good performance of collecting their revenues. The municipalities of Isabel, Palompon, Kananga, Abuyog and including Carigara has been on the top 5 on BIR’s list. Last 2014 the municipality of Carigara got 18.1 million pesos revenue and last year it increased by 11% in which they have a total of 20.7 million pesos. The group of passengers, who were retirees, were from United States of America, South Africa, Canada, United Kingdom and from all over the world. All of the sixty passengers who visited the islands haven’t visited yet the Philippines. According to Micheal Moore of Zegrahm Expedition, they chose the two islands in Eastern Visayas because of its history and they also want to learn their different cultures. “The Philippines has the friendliest people; fantastic food; history and different culture, it’s all here right in this small island,” said Moore. According to DILG Regional Director Pedro Noval A. Jr, in Ormoc City, the rehabilitation of their City hall amounting to 20 million pesos under RAY 2 is not yet fully completed. But their coliseum, which is under RAY 1, was already finished. Meanwhile, all brgys in Ormoc City could not implement those projects intended for the rehabilitation of their brgy facilities affected by typhoon Yolanda last 2013 because the funds downloaded to them has been made just last March 22. “Sa mga brgy hindi pa, the funds downloaded to them was on March 22, pasok na sa election ban, so they can still conduct bidding but they cannot implement the projects,” said Noval.  They can implement their projects after the election. She joined the 21 more employees of the said German Bank that volunteered to paint the four walls of the classrooms with environment-themed art. The Deutsche Bank AG Manila and SM Foundation donated a two-storey, four classrooms building to complement the seven classrooms in the campus of Northern Tacloban City National High School.  Aside from the school buildings they also donated school supplies, arm chairs, and books for 630 high school students who were recently relocated in the Northern Brgys. I just dreamed swimming into the blue waters of the Pacific coast and feel the peace of mind that it offers. Most of those dreams were inspired by those pictures uploaded on-line by some young travelers inside and outside the region. Until this dream came true one day. It was my first island experience so I packed my things a day ahead the schedule. All my companions have gone to so many tourist destinations in the Region as this activity by the DOT-8 was done every summer. We took a ride from Tacloban to Kawayan port in the small province of Biliran. It took 3 hours before we reach the port and traveled to the island town of Maripipi where locals showcased their native products and delicacies.
