Tacloban City – It was the first time for the 29-year-old Jayzel Escalante, one of the employees of Deutsche Bank AG Manila, to step into the soil of Leyte. She joined the 21 more employees of the said German Bank that volunteered to paint the four walls of the classrooms with environment-themed art.

The Deutsche Bank AG Manila and SM Foundation donated a two-storey, four classrooms building to complement the seven classrooms in the campus of Northern Tacloban City National High School. 

Aside from the school buildings they also donated school supplies, arm chairs, and books for 630 high school students who were recently relocated in the Northern Brgys. They also donated sixteen electric fans and four toilets for the classrooms.

The 22 volunteers together with their Vice President for Implementation and Services Jojo Reyes flew into the City on Saturday at their own expense just to do this humble contribution that will inspire the students through the mural that they made.
 
“The theme is more on environment because this is also to give them idea to take care our environment and values formation narin sa mga bata,” said Reyes.

No one of the volunteers is inclined with painting but because of their mission to inspire the students they’ve enjoyed painting and coloring the walls of the classrooms.

SM Foundation and Deutsche Bank AG Manila have been partnering for years that made them build thirteen school buildings with a total of 52 classrooms and all has murals made by the employees of the bank.

Recently, the SM cares Foundation turned over the 400 new housing units to the recipients who were survivors of the typhoon Yolanda. The village is called Pope Francis Village located at Brgy Kawayan, Tacloban City. ###
